Frequently Asked Questions

 

1. Where does the race start? Where does it end?

The race starts and ends in front of Horizon Academy, at 4901 Reinhardt Drive, Roeland Park, KS 66205.

 

2. What comes with my registration?

With your registration comes a free tech t-shirt, free post-race food and beverages, a finisher's medal, and chip timing!

 

3. What does the course look like?

4. Will there be food and drinks provided?

There will be free food and beverages for all race participants and volunteers. There will be no food to purchase at the event.

 

5. How far is the Kids' Fun Run?

The Lil' Pumpkin Fun Run is about a 100 meter dash.

 

6. What happens if it rains?

The Great Pumpkin Race will occur rain or shine!

 

7. Can I register the day of the race?

You can register the day of the race. We can accept cash, check or credit card.

 

8. How does the costume contest work?

Our three judges will be walking around and reviewing the costumes throughout the race & post-race activities. At 10:45, we will announce the winners and award their prizes!

10. Can I exchange my shirt for a different sized shirt?

Shirt exchanges will not happen until after the race is over in order to make sure everyone receives a shirt.

 

11. What if I want an extra shirt?

Extra shirts will be available for purchase at the registration table for $10.

 

12. I registered but cannot participate; can I still pick up my shirt?

Of course! T-shirts can be picked up at packet pick-up on Friday or Saturday morning. If those days do not work, contact Caitlin at cmcgrath@horizon-academy.org to schedule a date and time.

 

13. I won't be able to participate. Can I transfer my registration to a friend or save it for next year?

Unfortunately we do not have the ability to transfer registrations or save them for next year.

 

14. Where can I park?

Please fill the spots next to and behind Horizon Academy first (50th Street between Canterbury Street and Reinhardt Drive). There will be parking attendants and parking signs the day of the race to help guide you!

-Spots will also be available in the lot behind Bishop Miege High School (located at 5041 Reinhardt Drive, Roeland Park, KS) for overflow parking.

16. What activities will be available?

Our free activities include face painting, pumpkin decorating, and visiting our vendor booths!

 

17. How does the prize drawing work?

Everyone who attends the Great Pumpkin Race is eligible for our three prize drawings! We would appreciate a donation of $5, and we will enter your name in a drawing for the chance at a $20 Dick's Sporting Goods gift certificate; a 24 Hour Fitness prize package; or a $25 Prairie Village Shops gift card. Find us at the Horizon Academy vendor table to donate and provide your information!
